Special School Council Meeting

The School Council was invited to hold their meeting of 16th January 2009 at Suffolk County Council's (SCC) Endeavour House Headquarters in Ipswich.  Following a short coach journey from school, the School Council, with 24 representatives from Years 1 to 6, met in the SCC council chamber where each delegate has their own microphone unit allowing them to speak and be seen on large video screens.

The School Council members were welcomed by the Chairman of SCC, Charles Michell, who spoke about the work of the County Council and answered a number of interesting questions from School Council members.  He generously (but briefly) lent his regalia of office to the two chairpersons of the School Council who posed for photographs.

Topics covered at the meeting included:

- the PALS scheme, is it working and how can it be improved;

- playground improvements, areas for particular play purposes?

- ECO schools, what is involved and what can our school do?

- Year  5&6 playground resources.

Following the close of the meeting, the School Council members ate their packed lunches in the staff restaurant area before thanking their host and taking the coach back to school.
